Through quiet contemplation one can create personalized Haiku affirmations, which honors one's life story. Insight, healing, and self-awareness can be achieved by honoring and telling our personal narratives which can be creatively supported by a community of sage peers and elders.
Navigating through an artistic lens, this workshop will provide an opportunity to affirm and honor those affected by domestic violence by creating inspirational poetry as a creative outlet. The workshop will open and conclude with a circle gathering (talking-stick), reading of Chartrand's book 'Angel's Destiny: A Novel Story of Poems and Illustrations' (2009), free-write exercise, designing and presenting Haiku poetry (5-7-5). An altar will be set up which honors ourselves, our ancestors, and everyone affected by Domestic Violence.
