Experts discuss the use of music in Chinese American, Native American and Palestinian communities in relation to the histories of occupation, relocation and alliance building. Panelists include: Jess Ghanam, professor of Professor of psychiatry and global health sciences at University of California, San Francisco; Susan Greene of the Break the Silence Media and Arts Project; poet Genny Lim; Francis Wong of Asian Improv aRts; and John-Carlos Perea, assistant professor of American Indian Studies at SF State. This event is part of ImprovisAsians 2013! Re(al)liance: Music, Collaboration and Resistance, an annual series of performances and workshops at SF State. Celebrating the series' 25th anniversary this year, events explore the role of performance as a community-organizing method.
