John-Carlos Perea, assistant professor of American Indian Studies, performs with Masaru Koga and Karl Evangelista. They will play Creek and Kaw compositions by Jim Pepper alongside indigenized versions of jazz standards arranged by Perea. This performance is part of ImprovisAsians 2013! Re(al)liance: Music, Collaboration and Resistance, an annual series of performances and workshops at SF State. Celebrating the series' 25th anniversary this year, events explore the role of performance as a community-organizing method.
