This world-premiere adaptation of Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream" merges the classical text with Tagalog and shadow puppetry to reveal a world populated by creatures from Philippine folklore. It begins in a world bound by class, law and tradition. Characters find their way into the fairy world of the woods where boundaries are rendered invisible, anything becomes possible and events, choices and actions are unpredictable. The Filipino-American cast and live music -- a blend of rock, kulintang and Philippine folk -- bring this strange land to life.
"A Pinoy Midsummer" is Lorna Velasco's creative work project for her Master of Arts in Drama.
