Debra Chasnoff, president and senior producer of GroundSparkża national social-justice, media advocacy and education organization (Academy Award Winner for "Deadly Deception," "That's a Family," "Straightlaced: How Gender's Us All Tied Up"), will focus on developing documentary films that inspire social change and activism. The master class will include a screening of "Deadly Deception: General Electric, Nuclear Weapons and Our Environment" and clips from "Straightlaced: How Gender's Got Us All Tied Up."
The event is part of the Documentary Film Institute's fall master-class series. Cinema students and the Bay Area community will have the opportunity to engage documentary filmmakers in rigorous filmmaking discourse from experts. The series revolves around the pre-production process of making a documentary film from concept and social activism to funding and producing.
