Five-time Grammy nominee and U.S. Artists Fontanals Fellow John Santos will demonstrate technique and a wide variety of rhythms from Cuba (bembe, rumba, son, mozambique, mambo, makuta), Puerto Rico (bomba, plena, jibaro) and the Dominican Republic (merengue) on conga drums, bongos, maracas, timbales, tambora, guiro and chekere. Santos will also give a brief historical synopsis of each instrument and answer questions from the audience throughout the presentation.
