Winner of the 2012 Cleveland Quartet Award, the Jasper String Quartet is "sonically delightful and expressively compelling" (The Strad) and "powerful" (The New York Times). The quartet holds residencies at Oberlin Conservatory of Music and Classic Chamber Concerts in Naples, Fla. After winning the Grand and Audience prizes in the 2008 Plowman Chamber Music Competition, the Jasper went on to win the grand prize at the 2008 Coleman Competition, first prize at Chamber Music Yellow Springs 2008, and the Silver Medal at the 2008 and 2009 Fischoff Chamber Music Competition and was the first ensemble to win the Yale School of Music's Horatio Parker Memorial Prize (2009). Program: Haydn: String Quartet in F Major, Op. 77 No. 2, Hob. III: 82; Ligeti: String Quartet No. 1, "Metamorphoses Nocturnes"; and Ravel: String Quartet in F major SF State's Morrison Chamber Music Center presents the Morrison Artists Series, the longest running chamber music concert series in San Francisco, featuring superb, admission-free performances by some of the world's most acclaimed ensembles since 1955.
