Japanese Flower Arrangement: Lecture, Demo & Workshop

Director Nobu Kurashige of Ikenobo Ikebana Society of America will share the Japanese art of flower arrangement. The event opens with a lecture on the history of the art since the medieval period, followed by a demonstration of Ikenobo's famous Shoka-style and contemporary free-style arrangements. After the demonstration, everyone will individually arrange free-style flowers under the supervision of Mrs. Kurashige. All participants are cordially invited to join a post-event informal reception in an adjacent room (HUM 117) from 12:30-13:30. Light refreshments will be served.
For registration, please email mmckeon@sfsu to request the application form, and submit the application to the Foreign Language Department Office (HUM 475) with $10 (cash or a check made out to "The Toshiko Mishima Memorial Fund," which is the Japanese Program's university account for cultural events) STAPLED to your application. Application deadline: Tuesday, March 27, 5 p.m. No refunds after 3/26/2012.
One the day of the event please bring a pair of ordinary or flower scissors, a mug cup or an empty plastic water bottle, and a roll of scotch tape. Thank you!
